The Model 1892, affectionately known as "The 92", is a magnificent lever action rifle from Winchester. It is crafted in 45 Colt caliber and presents a 10-round capacity within its robust steel body. The sleek, brushed polish finish complements the elegant black walnut stock. Brandishing a brass bead front sight and Semi-Buckhorn rear sight, it offers a twist ratio of 1:26. The rifle measures 20" in barrel length and spans an overall length of 37.5". All this comes in a compact package weighing just 6 lb.
This Winchester masterpiece is cherished for its smoothness, compactness, handiness, and aesthetic appeal. The Model 1892 had big shoes to fill as it succeeded the remarkable Model 1886 - which was purpose-built for large hunting and military calibers of the era, like the 45-70. In response to the call for a new, more compact rifle suitable for pistol calibers, John Moses Browning developed the Model 1892 prototype for Winchester - and hence, a legendary firearm was born.
This Model 92 Short Rifle is available in two potent calibers: the versatile 357 for hunting and Cowboy Action duties, and the 44 Rem. Mag, a perfect choice for hunting in brushy conditions with quick-moving game. Noteworthy is the attention to detail, as seen in the one-piece steel crescent buttplate and the traditional Marbles gold bead front sight. For your convenience, a rear tang safety is included.
