From start to finish, this shotgun has been developed to meet the stringent requests that shooters have come to expect. There is no doubt this is the ultimate SXP shotgun in the entire line-up. This model is chambered in hard-hitting 12GA and will accept up to 3" shells. This model features a 5rd capacity of 2 3/4" shells.
This SXP Extreme Defender features a door breaching choke tube that not only helps mitigate recoil but is also perfect for door breaching, providing the proper standoff should you need to. This muzzle device is even serrated, making it ideal for less-than-lethal muzzle strikes should things get up close and personal. Coming back a little, the 18" barrel is maneuverable, making it suitable for home defense or tactical shooting. This barrel is also chrome-lined. The heat shield also helps protect your hands during firing. The blade front sight and ghost ring rear sight combo make for an ideal sight picture, but includes a Picatinny rail section along the top of the receiver should you want to add a red dot sight. Another Picatinny rail section is located near the front of the barrel which makes mounting a light or laser a breeze.
Another great feature of this model is the rugged aluminum alloy receiver. This receiver is tough as nails and also lightweight. The buttstock on this model works in collaboration with the textured pistol grip to keep this shotgun tight into your shoulder. There are two adjustable and interchangeable combs to adjust drop, and two spacers are also included for adjusting the length of pull. The SXP is one of the fastest cycling pump-action shotguns on the market made possible by the rotary bolt system. Once fired, the rotating bolt unlocks, which assists the shooter in racking the action back in one motion. Chambering another shell is as simple as pulling the action back forward and sighting back in. The advantage of this is faster follow up shots. Winchester claims that this shotgun will fire and cycle three shells in under a second.
