The Weatherby VFP65PPR6B is a testament to Roy Weatherby's vision in the 1960s to create an affordable rifle that could handle his remarkable magnum cartridges. The Vanguard rifle possesses many unique safety features, including a fully covered bolt and three gas ports on its body, which provide robust protection in case of cartridge failure.
The Vanguard begins with a two-lug push-feed action pioneered by Howa. It also incorporates a hammer forged barrel, delivering superior accuracy and durability which outclass most mass-produced cut-rifled barrels of the time. The rifle sports an M-16 style extractor for consistent and reliable cartridge extraction. It also features a fluted bolt body - similar to the Mark V's design - which allows for smoother operation, even under harsh hunting conditions.
