The Weatherby VAP300WR60BR is one of Weatherby's Vanguard rifles, which come with a guarantee to shoot a 3-shot group of .99" or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when partnered with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition. This variant of Vanguard rifle features a match-quality, two-stage trigger (adjustable down to 2.5 lbs.) and 3-position safety. In its middle position, the safety permits the action to be worked while still engaged.
The Vanguard action comprises a single-piece machined bolt body, designed to be lightweight with fluting that also minimises bearing surface area, thus avoiding binding for smoother action. In the event of an accidental case rupture, three lateral gas ports allow high-pressure gases to escape. For robust and reliable extraction, these Vanguard rifles utilise a sizable M-16-style extractor.
Built for strength and structural integrity, the Vanguard rifles feature a one-piece machined receiver with an integrated recoil lug. They also incorporate a one-piece trigger guard and a hinged floorplate for user-friendly access to unfired cartridges in the magazine.
The Badlands model sports a synthetic Monte Carlo stock with a textured forearm and grip areas, and a right-side palm swell. It also showcases a Badlands Approach camouflage finish. The model is equipped with a fluted, cold hammer-forged barrel with a contour of #2. Badland models carry a Burnt Bronze Cerakote metal finish, and this particular model is chambered for the 300 Weatherby Magnum.
