The Weatherby MHU05N257WR6T brings a wide selection of chamberings to the revered Mark V platform. This new Mark V Hunter model is mated with a newly fashioned stock that mirrors the shape and ergonomics of the previously released Mark V Backcountry 2.0 range of rifles. Unique features of this Hunter's polymer stock include a slim flat-bottomed forend, ambidextrous palm swells, and durable aluminum pillar construction. It bears an attractive Smoke & Burnt Bronze Speckle finish.
The Mark V Hunter is renowned for having the world's strongest action, featuring a distinctive multi-lug bolt system inspired by the interrupted thread style of lockup. Available in both Standard and Magnum action sizes, the Standard incorporates a six lug design. The sturdier Magnum has nine locking lugs, guaranteeing safe chambering of the most potent commercially accessible cartridges. Other safety enhancements include three rings of steel around the cartridge base when in battery, a completely enclosed bolt shroud, and three gas relief ports to vent pressure during an ammunition malfunction.
The Mark V Hunter's barreled action is threaded 1/228 for compatibility with a suppressor or brake and is safeguarded with a Burnt Bronze Cerakote shell for elemental resistance. A deeply fluted bolt reduces weight and the bearing surface within the action for smoother operation. It also comes with an extended, removable bolt knob that allows more accurate bolt throw and personal customization options.
The Mark V Hunter comes in an extensive array of cartridges, both in traditional American and Weatherby Magnum chamberings. The Barrel, Receiver, and Trigger Guard all come in a Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish, while the Bolt, Bolt Knob, and Safety feature a Graphite Black Cerakote finish. It also boasts the all-new Mark V Advanced Polymer stock in a Smoke & Bronze Speckle finish.
