The Weatherby MCT20N240WR6B takes on a revolutionary design, which is a further enhancement to the iconic Backcountry series. This model, Backcountry 2.0 Ti Carbon, unites the highly valued tensioned carbon fiber barrel and ultra-light, robust titanium Weatherby Mark V action. This extraordinary blend has built a name for itself for its accuracy, as demonstrated by a Mark V Carbonmark loaded with this carbon fiber barrel setting a new internal Weatherby accuracy record in 2021. It achieved a 0.06 3-shot group at 100 yards utilizing the factory Weatherby Select Plus ammunition.
A notable feature of the Backcountry 2.0 Ti Carbon is its weight, a mere 5.3 lbs, while effectively reconciling a titanium action and the newly introduced Peak 44 Blacktooth stock. The latter holds the title for being the lightest production carbon fiber stock available in the market. Adding to the unique features of the model, the weight and recoil reduction is also supplemented by the innovative second-generation 3DHEX recoil pad. This ingenious recoil pad presents the first-ever 3D printed pad witnessed in the realm of firearms. The efficient system integrated within the pad has a set of interconnected spaces which gradually diminish during recoil. Hence, extends the time of recoil impulse while minimizing the severe force of magnum chamberings.
The bolt body exhibits more prominent spiral fluting which trims weight and reduces bearing surface within the action, ensuring smoother function. The bolt handle, equipped with an aluminum extended skeletonized knob is threaded, adding an edge to its aesthetics and function. Streamlined with a titanium counterpart of Weatherby's effective Accubrake ST, this brake aligns perfectly to the profile of the #4 carbon fiber barrel. It contains 30 symmetrically situated ports which aid in controlling the recoil. Hence, even magnum chamberings turn out to be pleasurable to shoot.
The carbon fiber, visibly distinctive on both the barrel and the stock, effortlessly complements the raw titanium on the action. All other metal components are protected by a black ceramic Cerakote shell. The aesthetic appeal is further enhanced by a white and grey patterned Peak 44 Blacktooth carbon fiber stock which offers camouflage in the field.
By fusing lightweight and excellent barrel system features, Backcountry 2.0 Ti Carbon sets a high standard in terms of precision and low density. The model uses carbon for the Barrel, Trigger Guard, Bolt, Bolt Knob, and Safety, all encased in a Graphite Black Cerakote. The stock is a Peak 44 Blacktooth model, crafted out of carbon fiber and accentuated with Grey and White sponge pattern details.
