PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

If you think shooting an AK is fun, wait until you try one in 5.56. Fast, flat shooting and long range accurate. These rifles are amazing. The goal of Pioneer Arms has been to bring a very dependable Eastern Bloc quality AK rifle to the U.S. marketplace, at a very affordable price point. With this new 5.56 Nato Laminated Wood Furniture AK Sporter, we think that they have again achieved that in spades and have brought a truly remarkable product to the US Market. This beautiful semi-automatic version of the Polish AK-47 Rifle got its start at the Pioneer Arms factory in Radom Poland with the final U.S. compliance and finish being done here in the U.S. by Pioneer Arms U.S.A. The rifle possesses the original Military Spec Polish Receiver and Barrel and many of the original Com-Bloc characteristics that you would expect from a Polish-based military rifle. This rifle features a sling swivel, a new bolt hold open safety lever, and a brown polymer AK pistol grip that closely matches the furniture.

This wood stocked AK Sporter, this rifle has all of the same base features as the standard Polish AK- Sporter with a gorgeous wood butt stock and handguards, but it is chambered in 5.56 NATO! 5.56 AK’s are highly underrated due to the preference for a traditional 7.62x39 look but with this configuation you can have it all. A historically accurate looking rifle but in America's caliber. The reality is that 5.56 /.223 ammo is widely available, and with the 7.62x39 import ban, 5.56 has been trending on the cost-efficient side comparably. You can purchase a 1,000rd case of 5.56 or .223 Remington and not just shoot this AK, but also your other favorite firearms in that popular cartridge.

It also features the new Pioneer Arms - Premium Grade Hand Polished AK 47 Fire Control Group and an internal side retention plate for the ultimate smooth trigger feel. The rifle utilizes Polish-designed 30 round 5.56/.223 caliber AK magazines and each rifle ships with 1-30 round mag. Unlike many of the U.S.-built Franken-Rifles on the market today, all of the primary rivet work, head spacing, etc... on this rifle is done at the factory in Poland so the fit and finish are exceptional. The Pioneer AK Sporter has the same primary receiver components, trunnion, and bolt carrier group as the select-fire rifles that Pioneer Arms produces to fulfill their numerous military contracts. In fact, this rifle incorporates the same front trunnion as all of the select-fire (full auto) AKs that they produce for military applications around the world. All structural parts have been rigorously tested to ensure the highest possible quality and long life. The rifle also features a forged front trunnion with "5.56" emblazoned on the trunnion and on the front gas block as well. The barrel is threaded on the end with the original military 14x1 left-hand thread pattern and features a new castle style (Modified Bird Cage) compensator. This style of compensator is highly effective with the 5.56 Nato round.  Sights are meticulously inspected for proper alignment so you should expect no canting. Gas port settings are properly drilled to ensure smooth cycling action with no overblows or short cycles. Rivet work is triple inspected and each rifle leaves the plant with a high degree of uniformity from rifle to rifle. They are completed with a beautiful black melonite external finish.
