What Makes The BM-59 Unique?

Despite its appearance, the BM-59 is much more than an M1 Garand copy. These rifles utilize M1 Garand parts mated with a reengineered magazine-fed, full-auto action (semi-auto for the civilian market) and feature integral bipods for increased stability. Certain models even included a side-folding stock and specially designed flash hiders that also allowed the shooter to fire rifle grenades with ease.

Many of these rifles remained in service throughout Italy until they were replaced by the Beretta AR70/90 in the mid-1990s. Ever since, the BM-59 and its variants have become quite the collector's item, prized for the unique combination of WWII-era design philosophy and more contemporary features that firearms enthusiasts appreciate.
