So you want to build a custom AR-15, but you don't want to start from scratch? A solid base rifle can be configured to your preferences without the need to purchase dozens of expensive parts that take forever to assemble. Here are just a few we are happy to recommend.
Quality components are the foundation of a successful build. Essentially, any part you do not plan to immediately replace must function flawlessly right out of the box. Many reputable manufacturers produce excellent base model ARs; look for the following to narrow your selection:
For most shooters, other parts (like stocks, grips, triggers, sights, muzzle devices, etc.) are more subjective and thus, are more likely to be swapped out and upgraded during a build. Some may even opt for a different style of handguard, a stainless barrel, or a nickel boron bolt carrier group. The above criteria merely serves as a baseline for what you should look for in a base AR-15 for your next project.

While any of the above rifles will serve as an excellent starting point for your next build, determining which option is best for you largely depends on your goals.
