SHOT Show 2024: The Taurus Expedition Bolt Action Rifle

The Expedition: A Brand New Bolt Action Rifle From Taurus

Taurus has earned a reputation for manufacturing quality firearms with great features at an affordable price point, and the Expedition bolt action rifle is no exception. Retailing at under $1,000, this rifle is packed with features and is capable of delivering sub-MOA performance when paired with quality ammo.

It utilizes the proven Remington 700 action and has a light, crisp trigger pull that is ideal for making precise shots at distance. The cold hammer forged barrel retains the "artifacts" of the forging process, mirroring the rifling in a distinctive and aesthetically pleasing spiral pattern.

Overall, the Taurus Expedition is an incredibly well-rounded bolt gun with a lot to offer, especially at this price point. It looks great, it feels great, and it's not hard to imagine it will shoot great, too. While Taurus is releasing the .308 Win variant first, other popular calibers are on the way.

First Impressions

We're excited to see something fresh coming out from Taurus, and look forward to seeing what other calibers and configurations are offered after the initial release. While we reserve final judgement until after the Classic Firearms team has a chance to shoot one, at first glance, this seems like a promising intermediate step between an entry-level bolt gun like the Savage Axis II and a more expensive model like the SOLUS from Aero Precision.
