Known for showcasing high-end guns and proper firearms handling, the John Wick franchise is an enduring favorite amongst shooting enthusiasts. The Classic Firearms team has viewed each entry multiple times and we're sharing our picks for the five best guns featured in all four films released to date.
Guns. Lots of guns... to choose from, that is. With four films under their belt, the team behind John Wick has worked with some of the most prolific manufacturers and firearms trainers in the industry. Glock, H&K, Sig Sauer, Taran Tactical, and Genesis have all been prominently featured in some of the series' biggest action set pieces.
Moreover, Keanu Reeves and the supporting cast have consistently fired on all cylinders (pun intended) whether their characters are engaging targets from a moving vehicle / horse or methodically clearing out an entire hotel full of enemies. It's refreshing to see these iconic pistols, rifles, and shotguns used realistically by actors who are well-trained and capable of executing the choreography flawlessly.
For this list, we're focusing exclusively on the handguns and long guns used by the titular anti-hero and his compatriots. Each firearm must be customized for the character wielding it or must be used in a truly novel way to make the cut. This means that guns like John's stock P30L with compensator from the first film or the Kimber 1911 gifted to him by the Bowery King in John Wick: Chapter 2 will not be considered.
John uses a fully kitted-out MPX Carbine to repel the first wave of High Table elite troops during the climactic shootout in John Wick Chapter 3 - Parabellum before getting in close with his sidearm to finish them off. While a rifle chambered for an intermediate caliber would probably be a more practical choice for fighting armored opponents in real life, watching Keanu Reeves run-and-gun with the MPX was absolutely thrilling to watch entering the third act of Parabellum.
After travelling to Rome in John Wick Chapter 2, John acquires a Taran Tactical Innovations Glock 34 Combat Master during the famous Gun Sommelier scene. This pistol has aggressive grip texturing, a flared magwell, custom porting, and other features making it ideal for blazing fast competitive shooting or escaping from crowded catacombs filled with assassins.
John spends the bulk of the fourth installment on the run from rival assassins, several of whom are armed with modified Genesis Gen-12 magazine-fed shotguns loaded with incendiary rounds. After commandeering his own from a downed enemy, John makes short work of all remaining foes in a top-down shot reminiscent of old-school video games.
Deftly transitioning from hunted to the hunter, John Wick deploys an 11.5-inch AR-15 with extended mags and a vertical foregrip to devastating effect. He runs a Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6X LPVO, which is ideal for mid to long-range engagements and allows for rapid target acquisition during the aforementioned catacombs shootout in John Wick Chapter 2.
John Wick Chapter 4 saw John racing against the clock as enemies tried to prevent him from reaching the location of the duel that would determine his fate. Unsurprisingly, this endeavor was ultimately unsuccessful because John was armed with the TTI Pit Viper, one of the finest pistols ever created and a highly effective self defense firearm, capable of inflicting damage against would-be attackers even after running out of ammunition.
