M1-Garand Rifle - Original U.S. Military M1-Garand Rifle, Semi-Auto, 30/06 Caliber by Springfield Armory - Professionally Refurbished by J.R.A. - C & R Eligible. All of these rifles are in Excellent to Like New Condition and are without a doubt some of the finest examples of an original U.S. Military M1-Garand rifle that you will ever see. Important, Please read our full description for details including information on Hand Select, Custom Options, and Ammunition Disclaimer.
Finally, A small qty of what we have all been waiting for is here. These were original U.S. Military contract M1 Garand Rifles, Semi-Auto, in 30/06 caliber. These fine rifles originally saw service with the U.S. military before being stored away in a foreign arsenal for years before finally being brought back into the country. James River Armory has meticulously refurbished these rifles using all original U.S.-made parts including in some cases brand new Criterion barrels. All metal surfaces have been professionally refinished to like new and all rifles have New Production American Walnut Stock sets installed which are historically correct to the rifle. Every part on the rifle has been thoroughly inspected for wear before reassembly and any parts not meeting JRA's high standard have been discarded and replaced where needed. All rifles are test fired and re-cleaned after final assembly. The result is a decades-old rifle that is in near showroom quality that any military enthusiast or collector would be proud to own. About the bores - While we never make specific guarantees about bore condition, in this instance, on these rifles, we will say this. All of the rifles in this group were inspected as to bore condition before they were chosen for refurbishing and tagged as to bore condition. Any of the barrels that did not grade out as being very good or better were segregated and those rifle barrels were replaced with brand new Criterion barrels. As a result, you will either receive a rifle with an original barrel with a very good to excellent bore or, a rifle with a brand new criterion barrel. Either way, you can't go wrong and all of these rifles should be fine shooters. A note about the rifles. - While all of these rifles are beautiful by surplus condition standards, and certainly when compared to other Garands on the market, please know that they were originally surplus rifles and will show the same variances from rifle to rifle that you would expect from any refurbished rifles. Much like the BM-59' rifles that we once offered, the original condition of the rifles used in the project will vary from rifle to rifle in the way that they accept final finish, etc, and while all of the end product rifles are very nice, and I mean very nice, no two rifles upon extreme scrutiny, will look exactly alike. In other words, while they have been professionally re-assembled and re-furbished, to as close to new as possible, by one of the best builders in the country, the rifles utilized were still original decades-old surplus rifles and upon close scrutiny, you may still find a small nick or ding in a compensator or charging handle, etc. Because of the overall quality of these rifles, this disclaimer would not even be needed for 99 out of 100 of our customers but every now and then we get someone who is ultra-critical and will make a huge deal out of an otherwise very small, almost un-noticeable imperfection in one of these types of rifles. Military rifles were never made for beauty but rather for function in the first place and it was common to have minor cosmetic imperfections in these even when new. So, while we have done everything in our power to represent these accurately, if the only finish you would be satisfied with is that of a brand new Belgian Browning, then our feelings won't be hurt if you bypass these.Custom Options - Although the majority of these Garands are manufactured by Springfield, we do have a small quantity of H&R ( Harrington and Richardson ) and I.H ( International Harvester ) rifles on hand. While supplies last these can be selected for purchase under the custom options tab at an upcharge. When they are no longer available the option will no longer accept the order. Hand Select - While all of these rifles are very nice and as described in the ad, some will inherently be more cosmetically appealing than others just due to a nicer grain pattern in the wood, or a more appealing overall look. Look, all of these are nice and you can't go wrong with any one of them, but if you want the best of the best in terms of cosmetics, then for a $30.00 hand select fee, we will select from a group of rifles, and get the one that we think looks the best. A Note About Ammo - Industry guidelines on M1 Garand rifles advise only using .30/06 ammunition that is loaded to a maximum pressure of 50,000 CUP, with a bullet weight of no more than 172-174gr. The Garand rifle was designed to be fired most efficiently with 150 grain M2 Ball ammunition and the use of this specific ammo is preferable if at all possible. M1 Garand rifles are WWII / Korean War-era guns and they were not designed for maximum modern bolt action loads or heavy bullet weights. Using high-pressure ammunition in these rifles will not only void the warranty but may also be dangerous and Classic Firearms nor James River Armory will stand liable for any injuries incurred from the use of high-pressure ammunition. Always wear hearing and eye protection when firing an M1 Garand or any other firearm.
