The Hunting Shack BER65X284140 ammunition is a product of a collaborative project between HSM and Berger. This is a part of their exclusive Trophy Gold rifle ammunition line. The unique feature of this ammunition lies in the special Berger's premium match grade VLD (Very Low Drag) hunting bullets, suitable for hunting small, medium and large-sized game.
Traditionally, these superior VLD hunting bullets were only within reach of those who indulged in hand loading. The Berger's VLD bullets have been designed for exceptionally high ballistic coefficient, making it ideal for shots that exceed 300 yards but also ensuring great performance at closer ranges.
What sets the VLD design apart is the sharp hollow point at the front of the bullet. This is carefully constructed to penetrate the target between 2" and 3" before starting the expansion. Following this initial penetration, the bullet discards of about 40% to 85% of its weight in the form of shrapnel into the target tissue and organs. This process leaves a devastating wound channel, causing most of the bullet's energy and hydrostatic shock to be expended throughout the target animal's mass.
