This Firearm Will Be Posting In January 2025 - I'm by no means an expert on this particular gun so rather than speculate and end up looking foolish, I'm just going to describe it and ya'll can decide if you want it. This is a DWM manufactured WWI Era P08 German Luger. It is dated 1917 with 1920 stamed above it. Many would call this a dual date gun but the 1920 is actually a property stamp and provides historical significance to the gun. You can see an explanation on that below. The DWM stamping on the toggle is beautiful as are all of the cartouche markings which are still fully intact. All external serial numbers on the pistol match however it does not have a matching magazine. Serial # on the mag is 5174. The metal finish on the pistol shows some carry wear and is by no means perfect but it is not bad either. I would call it conservatively 85 to 90%. The brown checkered grips are quite nice and still retain most of their texture. The bore is not pristine and shows some scarring on the lands but still shows strong, very servicable lands and grooves. Now, in full disclosure I purchased this pistol from an individual years ago and do not know the history of it so I can't with any certainty attest as to whether it has been refinished or otherwise altered, if it was refurbished it was certainly before I owned it and it had time to age again up until now, but I don't think so. I truly believe this is the original finish. However, I don't know that for sure. All that I can state for sure is that it is one really nice, somewhat rare piece of military history which I have been proud to have in my collection and I'm sure that you would enjoy having in yours. The pistol ships in a pistol case for maximum protection. This pistol has been represented here through images and description with 100% accuracy as I know it and if you are not comfortable buying it based on this information Do Not Make the Purchase. All sales are final on this pistol. This pistol is C&R Eligible. The back story. Over the last 30 plus years in the gun business I have acquired some really nice surplus firearms. These guns came from Gun Shows, private collections, and private individuals that I have met along the way, as well as, on occasion, what I would deem as the best of a particular lot when it came in here to Classic. Well, all good things must end and at this point in my life it is time to downsize a little and that includes letting go of some of these "Gun Safe Queens" that I have typically only pulled out to clean ever so often. Now don't get me wrong, there was a time when I would not have even considered giving up one of these firearms as they have been very special to me. However, my daughters show no interest in inheriting them, and at this point in my life I've decided that I would rather see them in the hands of folks that would relish them, than to have them to continue sit in a dark safe here at Classic. Each gun from my private collection is unique and they will sell individually by serial #, so when that gun is gone, it is gone and irreplaceable. At least from me. If you no longer see this rifle in inventory, you will know that it has sold.
