The 26503 Berger Hunting Bullet has built a reputation as one of the most lethal big game hunting bullets on the market. The VLD design features a sharp nose, enabling the bullet to penetrate 2" to 3" prior to expansion. Once expansion begins, the bullet will discharge between 40% and 85% of its weight into the surrounding tissue (internal organ) as shrapnel.
This combined action of shrapnel and hydrostatic shock creates an expansive wound cavity within the vital area (internal organs), frequently between 13" to 15" in length. This results in rapid animal drops, contributing towards a swift and more humane hunting experience. Unlike standard bullets which simply pass through (offer high weight retention and deep penetration), Berger bullets focus their energy release most effectively within the animal.
