You spoke and we listened. We were getting feedback that most customers would like to have their receiver come pre-finished. Bare metal is prone to rust and difficult to store until a build is complete. These receivers have all been professionally finished with a light gun blue process. Protects the finish while allowing for a final finish to match the rifle upon completion.
Want to know more about these rifles Here is the full story - Back in early 2012 Classic Firearms contracted a company called Waffen Werks to build AK-74 rifles for us utilizing a large quantity of really high end AK-74 parts sets that we had acquired out of Bulgaria. The deal was that we would provide the parts and the barrels and Waffen Werks would provide the receivers and do the builds on the rifles that we would then market. We sold these rifles and had a great deal of success with them overall but at some point during the run we began to have some reliability issues with the rifles to the extent that we eventually halted production. The gunsmiths that we had analyze the issues on returned rifles agreed that the problems we were experiencing with the rifles were due to a particular run of receivers that had not been Q.C'd properly allowing some to have inconsistencies. As such, we discontinued our association with the original Waffen Werks receivers and had Waffen Werks either destroy or return whatever receivers remained to the original manufacturer. We then independently approached Morrisey ( One of the most prominent receiver manufacturers in the U.S. ) to build us new, fully to spec, heat treated AK-74 receivers. Since our plans were to continue to allow Waffen Werks to do the builds we had Morrissey pre-stamp WW's manufacturing info on the new Gen II receivers, and then we sat back and waited for the new receivers to come in from finish and heat treating. This took a little longer than expected and during the interim waiting period, Waffen Werks sold out their manufacturing interest and closed their doors leaving us with a large group of really high end newly manufactured, AK-74 receivers with the Waffen Werks logo on the receiver. These receivers are not only beautiful but perfectly to spec, and we have had zero issues with their function
